Born in 1947, his childhood days in a small suburban town south of Boston were spent absorbing his mothers' artistic sensibilities and his fathers' legendary mechanical talents. His design career began when he discovered that his pencil drawings of Hot Rods, Motorcycles, and Customized Bicycles were very popular with the other boys at the grade school he attended. A decent drawing would bring enough lunch money to last him all week.
Following an education at New England School of Art and Design, he has been engaged in the industrial/graphic design fields specializing in package and product design.
His fascination with machines as artistic expressions has resulted in a body of work that spans more than sixty years.
Jaak is still tinkering and lives in Florida with his wife Susan, one cat, and a great many old and rusty things.
